Osmose® and Pentox® Wood Preservatives and Wood Stains since 1936
Pentox® Zin-K-Nap® product
Pentox® Zin-K-Nap® product is a liquid wood preservative solution containing 2% zinc as zinc naphthenate in petroleum solvents. Used for the treatment of dry wood and green wood. The solution is clear and film free. This preservative protects treated lumber continuously for the life of the wood. Life expectancy of treated wood is at least three to five times that of untreated wood. Recommended for use in green houses and wood in contact with plants; will not injure plants provided that the treated wood has thoroughly dried. Wood treated with Pentox® Zin-K-Nap® product will intensify the wood’s natural colors. With exposure to UV from the sun, the wood’s tannins will become grey.
Treated wood surfaces can be surface finished with conventional secondary coatings such as wood stains, or paints.
Satisfies CSA 080 P8 and P9 (4 GP 56, type II ).
Use on all lumber, beams, foundations, farm buildings, highway guard rail posts, boat houses, etc. and any wood in contact with ground or water. Not recommended for rubber lined fabrics.
3.78L / 1US gallon covers approximately 200 square feet; though this may vary with the wood species and the density of the wood; and also depends on the porosity of the wood, the moisture content of the wood and the depth of treatment desired. Apply by brush, roller or dipping. By brush and roller apply two liberal coats. Let dry 2 to 4 hours prior to handling; and 24 to 48 hours before painting or staining over. Drying time is minimum 24 hours before staining or painting
A surface odor may linger for some time, depending on humidity, temperature, ventilation and how much was applied to the wood. If lingering odor is objectionable, then one may consider a conventional secondary surface coating such as stain or paint to encapsulate the odor.
